The annual Sitecore Symposium took place this year from October 16 – 19th. The gathering of 2,900 Sitecore enthusiasts was held at The Mirage in Las Vegas, NV. Every year, the Sitecore community takes the opportunity to dive into technical education sessions, earn the latest certifications, and get an insider’s look into how Sitecore will take their organizations farther.
NorthStar Solutions Group has a strong content management background and in the last few years alone, has helped clients take their Sitecore platform to full integration into their organization. Content migration, design, governance, and training solutions have brought us to this year’s Symposium. We took part in the Strategy and Marketing tracks, networking sessions, and keynote addresses, taking full advantage of the Sitecore Symposium experience.
For 3 days, NorthStar colleagues immersed themselves in the Sitecore world. Networking is always a key element of conferences across the globe. While we may be a bit biased, Sitecore Symposium is certainly the one to attend. Engaging with individuals outside day-to-day operations offered the opportunity to not only share experiences and lessons learned, but create new connections across industries. This was especially true with the unique approach organizers took in designating tables by region during meal breaks. Whether you were looking to make connections in the Southeast U.S. or Asia Pacific, the Symposium organizers had you covered.
New Features and Meeting Your Customer’s Need
The opening keynote was presented by Sitecore’s new CEO, Mark Frost, together with Sitecore’s CMO, Scott Anderson. With the introduction of Sitecore 9.0, many elements and new features, such as xConnect and Cortext, are about to be brought to top organizations. xConnect will capture data across every screen, device, and source, while Cortex brings machine learning for real-time insights across native and third-party customer data. It was the case studies shared on companies, Toro and Loreal that carried us into the alternative ways of engaging your audience. Toro’s MyToro app extends itself to not only continually engage with their current customers, but provides them with an immediate need. MyToro provides resources such as service reminders, parts and maintenance kits, and how-to videos, free to all their customers.
From Challenging Assumptions to Content Efficiency, Sessions Hit Home
Sessions through both the Technical and Marketing tracks provided insightful and thought-provoking topics. Troy Outtram of Deloitte challenged our assumptions on user design with “Customer Experience in a World Without Screens.” From shopping via Google Home to voice security systems, technology is increasing at an accelerated rate and we need to keep our design finger on the pulse.
